Team Challenge and Weapon Sparring
The 2nd Annual " Warrior Team Challenge" competition will be held Saturday, Oct. 23 at Tiger Martial Arts in Longwood, FL. There will be some new challenges added to this years competition. Teams will be divided into three categories: children 11 and under, teens 12 to 17, and Adult/Family 18 and up. Teams need to be made up of five members and be co-ed with at least one different gender member. Belt level does not matter. The team with the overall fastest completion time, wins not only medals, but a six foot trophy Grand Champion trophy.
The USWL Padded Weapon Sparring Tournament will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13 also at Tiger Martial Arts. Weapons allowed will include long sword, short sword with shield, nunchaku, Bo-Staff, and escrima sticks.
All competitors will receive participation medals with pre-registration.

US OPEN Spectator Seating
All seating for the Friday and Saturday's Eliminations are General Admission. A Free Event Program will be available which will indicate what ring each division will be held in. There will be several rows of seating surrounding each and every competition ring. Those seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. All spectator passes provide admission to Saturday night's spectacular "Night of Champions". Most people prefer to purchase a "Reserved Seat" for the Night of Champions (this can be done for as little as $5.00 more!). These reserved seat passes include general admission to all other US OPEN competition events (see spectator pass prices below).
Important Information About Purchasing US OPEN Spectator Passes
If you are competing in the US OPEN, you do not need to purchase a spectator pass. However, you may choose to "upgrade" your complimentary "Night of Champions" General Admission Pass to a Reserved Seat simply by paying the difference. This can be easily accomplished through on-line competitor registration.
If you will be attending the US OPEN and wish to purchase SPECTATOR PASSES only (no one in your family or travel group will be competing), simply select the "SPECTATORS" link on the Registration page.
If you will be attending the US OPEN with someone who will be competing, you should purchase your spectator passes on-line at the same time. Ordering your spectator passes in this way will result in having your spectator passes available in the same package as the competitor materials when you arrive for the event.
If you will be purchasing Reserved Seat Passes for the spectacular "Night of Champions" and will be traveling with someone who is competing, please be sure to "upgrade" the competitors complimentary general admission pass to the same level of reserved seat that you will have so that you may all sit together (If the Competitor Registration, Reserved Seat Passes and Competitor Seating Upgrade is all done at the same time through on-line Competitor Registration, all of the reserved seats for the Night of Champions will be together).

AAU TKD Nationals in Ft Lauderdale Next Week
From Monday June 28th through Saturday July 3rd, Fort Lauderdale, Florida will be home to the 2010 Youth & Adult Taekwondo National Championships. This event, which brings athletes, coaches, parents and fans from all across the United States, will be held at the Broward County Convention Center.
The Broward County Convention Center will be turned into a fighting arena of wall-to-wall action, as athletes in the Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Black Belt class contend to see who will be winner. Divisions also included in this years’ Taekwondo Nationals are, Point Sparring and Olympic Sparring.
The 2010 AAU Taekwondo Nationals will feature some of the best competitors in the United States. There will be over 1,800 athletes battling for the chance to be crowned the victor. The National Championship provides a chance for every age group to compete. Entrants include athletes as young as five-years-old and even some well into adulthood.

You will do forms and right into sparring. Please arrive at the event 60 minutes before posted staging times to check in /weigh in. Example- if you are in the Men And Women Senior & Executive colored belts forms & Sparring divisions and are pre registered you don’t have to arrive at the event until 4:45 p.m. This will give you time to check in/weigh in and get warmed up. Warrior Invitational Tournament
The Warrior Invitational Tournament Series (WITS) is the tournament organization hosted by Trio Martial Arts Academy and Sensei Bret Gordon. The Series was kicked off in August 2009 with the Warrior Invitational Kumite Challenge, a Point-Fighting only tournament. Thrown as a trial event, Sensei Gordon plans to expand the WITS organization to eventually host numerous events throughout the year. The next WITS events scheduled are the Tournament Spectacular and the Battle of the WITS. The Tournament Spectacular will be a two-day event with three seminars and a full line of events to include Traditional Weapons, Traditional Katas, Point-Fighting and Continuous Fighting. Competitors who compete in both tournaments and place in the top bracket will be crowned Series Champion. For more information about the WITS events, please contact

Yesha Ministries is holding its 10th Annual Taekwondo Tournament and would like to invite you and your students to participate.
Early Registration ends 08/01/2009.
Door Registration begins at 8:00 AM
Tournament starts at 9:00 AM Sharp
Entry Fees (By July 15th) –$25.00 one event; $5.00 for each additional event
Entry Fees (By August 1st) --$30.00 one event; $5.00 for each additional event
Entry Fees (At the door) - $35.00 one event; $5.00 for each additional event
Spectator Fees: $2.50 per individual; groups of five or more - $2.00 each
There will be medals awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in 5 different categories:
Traditional forms/Creative forms
Point sparring/Olympic sparring/Breaking
The tournament is open to ages 6 and up and to all belt levels. All colored belt divisions will be broken down by age, rank and weight. The Black belt divisions will be by age and weight.
This year’s tournament will be like no other. We are proud to announce that we will break at 11:00 am for a Korean National Demonstration Team Exhibition.
The first fifty (50) who pre-register by July 25th will have the opportunity to be part of a select few invited to participate in a 2 hour work out with the Korean team. This is scheduled to take place at Dinsmore Baptist Church, Thursday, August 13th at 6:30 pm. Please remember, this opportunity is limited to the first 50 registrants only.
To insure fairness, visiting Black Belts are asked to help with refereeing and judging. Those who sign up to help when registering will receive a $10.00 discount. There will be a Black Belt ref/judge meeting at 8:30 AM
the day of the Tournament.
There will be discounts for those schools that have 10 or more students register, but
the competition is limited to 200 competitors only. So call today!

Would You Like to Participate?
Master David Turnbull of DC Turnbull TKD is involved with planning weapons challanges for this charity event. Planned challenges include throwing stars, rubber knife attack defense, sword fighting, 2 on 1 sparring… You get the picture. Each competitor will compete against himself/herself as well as against others. Judging will include agility, speed, endurance, and technical ability. The judges are experienced at national level competition and participant safety is of paramont importance. Additional Information

Martial Artists Fighting Hunger Plans Events
Still in the early planning stages, three food drives to benefit the Florida Association of Food Banks will be held. MAFH will host events that bring martial arts schools together while collecting canned goods for needy families. All events will benefit local food banks in Central Florida, Tampa and South Florida. All food collected in an area will remain in that area. With the number of people accessing food banks skyrocketing and the funding available decreasing, they hope to unite the martial arts community one can at a time.

Spring Hill, Fl Grappling Tournament May 2009
Dragon's Dojo of Spring Hill, Fl will host a grappling tournament on May 16, 2009 at their new location at 3071 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL 34606. Events will include gi and no-gi divisions.
The contact phone # 352-597-5608 or 352-238-6569. The cost will be $40.00 for one event and $45.00 for two. Registration is from 8:00-10:00 a.m. and the event will start at 10 a.m.
Dragon's Dojo always runs quality events. I go to a lot of tournaments and I can tell you that his events are top notch. So, if grappling is your cup of tea, I suggest you check this event out.
